David Miller has over 20 years of experience in the competitive shooting community and has lived to see the sport evolve into the world’s fastest growing shotgun sport. He is respected as one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the sporting clays community with a Master class title, and one of the best shooters in the United States.

David’s relaxed shooting clinics have made sporting clays much easier to understand for new shooters as well as veteran shooters. The main focus of these clinics is to develop a system for that individual that works for them. This means that if the student has certain style or technique in which they do things, David has the ability to hone in on those and ad a few new steps that might make things easier. He calls this rearranging the blocks by not tearing down the wall. This way these changes do not feel quite so awkward and come much easier to the student. David says that the most important tool you can bring to the field is your eyesight. You can’t hit what you cannot see. Dave practices what he preaches. His advice to shooters is to concentrate on the performance aspects of the sport rather than the outcome and shoot one station at a time.

COURSE DESIGNS

After seeing and shooting thousands of different target presentations over the course of his career David has also designed many different courses over all different types of terrain and backgrounds. He has learned how to keep the targets close and slow utilizing the lay of the land or the trees and bushes to create fun and interesting target presentations. He says that fun targets are ones that you can see; too often we see targets that are meant to be a challenge and the only reason they are is because they are far and fast. David says that well set targets should give all shooters plenty of time to visually lock onto the target and create a strategy on how to break them, there should be several good places to shoot a target during its flight path. This way everyone has an opportunity, young or old to beginner or master.
